NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Selects UT Austin As Research And Education Partner
The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory has selected The University of Texas at Austin for its Strategic University Research Partnership program — a federally funded program focused on advancing space exploration.
The partnership will enable the university and JPL researchers to propose collaborative research and educational projects in strategic focus areas such as robotics, nanosatellites and high-precision mapping. The program also creates an employment pipeline for JPL’s future workforce.
The University of Texas at Austin is one of 12 universities that have been selected for this partnership.

NASA Accepting Applications For Aeronautics Scholarships
NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate is accepting scholarship applications from graduate and undergraduate students for the 2012 academic year. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2012.
Graduate students must apply under a specific research topic to align with NASA’s aeronautics research programs. The list of available topics is posted online.

New Images of Solar Wind As It Impacts Earth
Using data collected by NASA’s STEREO spacecraft, researchers at Southwest Research Institute and the National Solar Observatory have developed the first detailed images of solar wind structures as plasma and other particles from a coronal mass ejection (CME) traveled 93 million miles and impacted Earth.
